We didn’t stay here but grabbed coffee. The espresso machine was down, but the owner was very accommodating in what drinks she made for us given the circumstances. The decor is eclectic and fun and my husband and I sat and played chess over coffee.

We came across Sjávarborg cafe by chance while passing through the town, and it turned out to be one of those really lovely surprises that stay with you. The setting by the harbour is beautiful, and the atmosphere inside is instantly welcoming — relaxed, friendly, and full of small, thoughtful touches that make you want to linger. The food was excellent — fresh, simple in the best way, and clearly made with care. You can tell the ingredients are local and handled with pride. Everything we tried was delicious, from the main dishes to the desserts. If you’re travelling through the area, Sjávarborg is absolutely worth stopping for — a proper gem of a restaurant.

This place is the cutest cafe stop! Lovely inside seating and decor, books to read while you sip, great dessert choices, and a clean bathroom. I enjoyed my latte and apple pie, and the basil cake was fantastic! The friendly employee let us stay to eat past close even though we insisted on to-go. If I come back to the area, I’d stay in the hostel based on this experience!!
